Samsung Admits To Galaxy S5 Camera Fault; Working on a Fix

Samsung has responded to the ongoing issues with the camera on its latest flagship Galaxy S5 and is currently working on a permanent fix.

Samsung, a pioneer in smartphone making, has confirmed the ongoing problem with its flagship Galaxy S5's camera that has left many users upset. The South Korean conglomerate also said it is working on a fix that will prevent the problem from reoccurring again in future handsets. The company also said the issue only affects a small number of devices, but did not confirm the specific figure except that the problem was reported in the U.S. and a few other countries, reports Reuters.

The problem was first reported by several users of the Verizon version of Samsung Galaxy S5, starting last week. The camera on the handsets refused to work as it returned with an error "Warning: Camera failed" before closing the app. As the problem was vastly reported by Verizon customers, the biggest U.S. carrier suggested that affected users do a software and hardware reset, delete caches from recovery, install third party camera app among other solutions, but none of these suggestions resolved the problem.

Samsung did not address the issue for almost a week, but has finally released a statement to Reuters confirming that the company is aware of the problem and is working on a fix.

"We have discovered that the issue has been seen in a very limited portion of early production Galaxy S5 units, and was caused by complications in the ROM (Read Only Memory) component which stores the information necessary to operate the camera," Samsung said in an e-mailed statement to Reuters.

Samsung is yet to make a public statement on how to fix the camera issue on the Galaxy S5. Until then, customer affected with the issue can turn to Samsung's customer service or the mobile service provider for help. Verizon, addressed the problem last Friday in a more convincing fashion, asking affected customers to contact the carrier's support team for a fix or a replacement of the device for free.

Samsung launched the Galaxy S5 in 125 countries April 11 and the company witnessed a remarkable opening, better than its predecessor. Issues such as this can affect Samsung's reputation, but since the company said it has affected only a limited number of devices, it is necessary to overcome the problem without any delays for a continued momentum.
