Motorola is slashing the price of its flagship Moto X smartphone, starting at just $299.99 for a limited 24-hour sale period on May 1.
Motorola, renowned phone making company owned by Lenovo, is at its price game again, challenging the competitive smartphone market with its discount offers. The smartphone maker is giving a one-time offer for customers to grab the Moto X smartphone at its lowest price ever. The limited period discount on Motorola's 2013 flagship kicks in 12.01 a.m. ET, May 1, which drops the price of an unlocked 16GB Moto X to $299.99 from its usual $349 selling rate.
The 24-hour limited discount also extends to the 32GB version and the Developer Edition Moto X smartphone. The discount offered on the higher-end model is more than the $50 price drop on its 16GB version. Motorola is throwing in a $75 discount on the contract-free 32GB and the developer edition Moto X, bringing the price of the handset to $324.99.
Motorola's promotion email sent to all customers compares the prices with flagship models from Apple and Samsung. While the 16GB version of the iPhone 5S sells for $649 off-contract and Galaxy S5 for $649.99, Moto X with its relatively low specs is light on the wallet with its $299.99 price tag.
The Moto X was popular during last year's smartphone race. It also crawled in to several lists of top Android phones of 2013. The smartphone carries some impressive features like Active Display and can be customized to a maximum extent with Moto Maker. Users can choose the color of the back cover, front bezels, side accents and add a signature and a personalized welcome message to the handset. The phone is not new anymore, but can attract some mid-range smartphone buyers with its attractive pricing detail.
Motorola dropped the price of its Moto X smartphone to $399 permanently following a limited New Year discount. Later in January, Motorola started offering a free Chromecast dongle to attract users. The offer was limited for a short period of time. Now, by giving away the maximum discount on the flagship, Motorola has limited the offer to just one day. There is no information whether the company plans on making the deal permanent anytime soon, but it looks like Motorola is clearing up its inventory to make room for the new flagship model in "late summer."
