Wal-Mart's partnership with Autoinsurance.com gives customers an affordable option for protecting their vehicles all in one place while shopping at the retailer.
Wal-Mart's senior vice president of services told Fox News the arrangement gives customers a better car insurance policy that helps alleviate health insurance costs.
"Our customers too often have to settle for auto insurance policies that aren't the best fit and cost more than they want to spend," Daniel Eckert said.
The services are immediately available in eight states: Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Texas. AutoInsurance.com expects to add more locations in the coming months, according to Fox News.
Customers can access the service by logging in with their name, address, date of birth, and contact information on Wal-Mart.com/autoinsurance, or autoinsurance.com.
Customers are then able to complete tasks with their information and view different plans from car insurance companies such as Esurance, Safeco, and Progressive.
Wal-Mart's latest addition is part of the company's efforts to bring more people into locations while simultaneously extending inventory, apart from its standard grocery items.
Wal-Mart also offers a money transfer service, which first launched Thursday, to help customers decrease fees up to half of what other businesses offer, according to a company press release.
"After listening to our customers complain about the high fees and confusion associated with transferring money, we knew there had to be a solution," Eckert said in a statement.
This new option is part of the retailer's Wal-Mart-2-Wal-Mart financial services entity.
"Walmart-2-Walmart brings new competition and transparent, everyday low prices to a market that has become complicated and costly for our customers. We're doing what we do best - launching a new service that challenges the status quo and drives down prices for our customers," Eckert said in a statement at the time.
