Motorola Moto X Release Date: Smartphone Available For Special $299 Thursday

Motorola's one day Moto X sale will give consumers the opportunity to purchase the phone for a special price of $299.

The sale begins at 12:01 a.m. May 1, and ends at 12:00 a.m. May 2, Modern Readers reported.

The Moto X is 4.7 inches, and a 1,280-by-720 display with 316 pixels per inch. The device also has a round back and Motorola's signature X8 mobile computing system.

The system has computing chips, a 1.7 gigahertz Qualcomm snapdragon S4 Pro, and a natural language processor, according to PC Magazine. A contextual computing processor controls the device's sensors.

Consumers can also launch the device's camera app and control it with their voice. A battery-saving capability also allows consumers to retain and conserve power.

Motorola initially priced the phone at $299 on Feb. 14. One commenter on a Droid Life forum said he saw nothing wrong with the phone.

"I mean this in the best possible way," Larry Bublitz said. "The Moto X is SOOOO good that it's boring. Anyone else notice this? I got one during the Feb 14th $299 deal, so it hasn't even been three months yet, but EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING on this phone is SOOO exactly perfect for my needs - I've totally forgotten about my thirst for phones. Maybe that's the point once you get the hardware perfect?"

"I haven't needed to root, rom, can do everything singlehanded, the battery takes me through the day, the Active Display rocks, the Griffin cradle is perfect, and it fits perfectly in my pocket. NOTHING bugs me about it," he concluded.

The phone has college logo designs for $34.95. These include Wisconsin, Washington, University of Illinois and Washington State, according to Slash Gear.
