LG to Launch New Smartphone on May 27 in Six Different Cities Worldwide

LG is set to launch its new flagship smartphone at six separate events on May 27th and 28th.

The events will take place into multiple cities around the world, according to The Verge.

New York, San Francisco and London will hold the first three events on the 27th. Seoul, Istanbul and Singapore will hold the next three on the 28th.

The Korean smartphone maker did not mention the name of the new device, and only said it will unveil its "next big global device after G2," TechCrunch reported.

Rumors have circled that the device will be named the new G3 Android phone, since it is the successor to the G2.

The phone features a 5.5-inch screen, which is 0.4 inches larger than Samsung's Galaxy S5, The Chosen Ilbo reported. LG said the images offered by the device are twice as clear as that of the Galaxy S5.

LG originally planned to release the phone in August, but opted for an earlier launch date because of new products from competitors being released around the same time.

The company acknowledged in its earnings report filed Tuesday that it is looking to launch the phone in the second quarter of 2014, The Verge reported. The device will be available in gold. LG's invitation was set on what looks like a dark brushed aluminum surface, which might mean that LG will use a premium new material. The company's phones have usually been built out of plastic.

LG's teaser message reads, "To be simple is to be great."

The invitation does not include any details about the new phone, Tech Crunch reported. LG's other devices include the LG G Flex quad-core phablet, the quad-core G2 and the quad-core LG G Pro 2 phablet.

Because the company said the device will be released in the second quarter of the year, some expect the phone to be debuted soon after the launch event.
