Paul Walker's family is still in the middle of a custody battle involving 15-year-old Meadow Walker. Even though an agreement was reached outside of court, a court commissioner refused to dismiss the guardianship case, E! News reports.
Shortly after Paul's death last November, Meadow's grandmother, Cheryl Walker, petitioned to have legal guardianship of the teen. She also wanted to be in charge of the $16 million estate Paul left for her. Cheryl and Meadow's mother, Rebecca Soteros, have been battling it out in court to see who will be awarded guardianship.
A source told E! that Meadow feels "betrayed" by her family because no one has asked her who she would like to live with. Before Paul's death, Meadow was living in California with the actor and Cheryl. Reportedly in 2011 she asked the "Fast & Furious" star if she could move out of her mother's house in Hawaii and come live with him.
There have been reports that Soteros has been battling an alcohol addiction. In an Apr. 30 custody hearing, Superior Court Commissioner David Cowan said he would not dismiss the case because investigators had reportedly found information about Meadow's mom. Cowan said he believed Soteros was not in the position to take custody of the teen because of her living situation, Hollywood Life reports.
During the hearing, a Los Angeles judge appointed the teen with an independent attorney who will now speak on Meadow's behalf. According to E! Meadow is not living with her mother or grandmother and has been staying with a family friend.
"Meadow is doing well and still in school and spending time with her friends like any teenager," the source said. "She soon hopes to move in the L.A. area with her mom."
Previously a source told the site that both Soteros and Meadow were "taken by surprise" when Cheryl requested guardianship.
