An Alabama grocery store is playfully keeping Heisman trophy-winning quarterback Jameis Winston's crab leg-stealing incident alive.
The manager at Jack's Foodland told USA Today's For The Win he wanted to poke fun at one of the school's rivals.
The Eva, Ala., store advertised Jameis Winston King Crablegs for $17.99 a pound to make light of the situation.
"We didn't actually put them out for sale," Smith, who is reportedly a big Alabama Crimson Tide fan, told For The Win. "With all the jokes going around about Jameis Winston and everything, we decided to print out some stickers as our own little joke and I put it on my Facebook and it kind of blew up from there."
Smith said he and his family members, also Crimson Tide fans, always find unusual situations at other Southeastern Conference Schools humorous.
"My whole family, we're all huge Alabama fans," Smith said. "So anytime something like this happens, it's just funny to us as Alabama fans."
Winston received an adult citation for reportedly shoplifting $32.72 worth of the seafood from a Publix grocery store in Tallahasse, Fla., Tuesday, Michael Wood, director of law enforcement for Leon County told For The Win.
Police reportedly showed up to Winston's residence this week for questioning. The athlete said he did not remember to pay for the seafood.
According to USA Today, Winston has seven days to get in touch with Leon County Sherriff's civil citation program. At that time, he must complete a required 20 hours of community service to have the incident erased from his record.
Winston is also reportedly suspended from FSU's baseball team, per an announcement from the squad's baseball coach.
According to For The Win, Alabama head football coach Nick Saban recruited Winston before he chose Florida State.
