A California prisoner has filed a lawsuit against the biggest names in music, claiming that they stole lyrics to several of his songs.
According to music website Contactmusic.com, Richard Dupree filed a $2.4 billion civil rights lawsuit against Beyonce, Jay Z, Kanye West, Rihanna and Chris Brown, claiming that the musicians stole lyrics for over 3,000 songs he wrote while incarcerated.
In the lawsuit Dupree stated that the music stars used agencies like the Central intelligence Agency, Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Homeland Security to spy on him while he was behind bars. They then stole his work, contactmusic.com reported. Brown, West and Rihanna are only named as co-conspirators in the lawsuit.
The lawsuit filed no April 21 in California's Eastern District Court claims that the defendants "robbed [him] for hundreds of millions, even billions, in the satellite organization." However, the suit does not mention which songs Dupree claims were stolen. In addition to the damages asked for in the lawsuit, Dupree is also requesting immediate release from the California State Prison at Corcoran.
According to the United International Press, Dupree submitted his original paperwork incorrectly.
A court memo stated that the "Plaintiff shall submit, within thirty days from the date of this order, a completed application to proceed in forma pauperis. Plaintiff's failure to comply with this order will result in a recommendation that this action be dismissed without prejudice."
