Adriana Lima and Marko Jaric are calling it quits.
People reported that the Victoria's Secret model and the former Minnesota Timberwolves guard Marko Jaric have separated after being married for five years. The couple has two children together - daughters Valentina, 4, and Sienna, 19 months.
"After long and careful consideration, we have decided to separate after five years of marriage," the couple said in a joint statement to People. "We are grateful to be the parents of two incredible young daughters that we will continue to co-parent. We would greatly appreciate your respect for our family's privacy as we begin this delicate next chapter for all members of our family."
The 32-year-old model once told Entertainment Tonight that she never forgot her first date with Jaric, an NBA journeyman who was first drafted by the L.A. Clippers in 2000. In 2009, Jaric told People that he always wanted to be a family man.
The Brazilian-born supermodel and Jaric met at a party in Los Angeles in 2006. They were engaged two years later and married on Valentine's Day in 2009 in a private civil ceremony in Jackson Hole, Wyo.
"Our life, we live in a honeymoon," Lima told People six months later. "I never saw myself being married. But after I met him, everything changed. I knew he was the one and I could see myself married with him and with a big family."
Lima is famously known for holding her virginity until she was married. In a September 2013 HuffPost Live interview, Lima described her husband as smart and funny. The model also defended her decision to wait for marriage, stating "Well, you know, you have to stick up for your beliefs. Whatever makes you comfortable. Just follow your values."
