Dallas forced a seventh game with a 113-111 win on Friday. Mavericks guard Monta Ellis led all scorers with 29 points, and veteran Dirk Nowitzki added 22 points to stave off elimination and extend the series.
"It's another one-game season for us," Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle told the Associated Press. "We've had them all year. We know what they're about, and we wanted this opportunity."
Mavericks center DeJuan Blair returned on Friday from his one-game suspension, which he received for kicking Spurs center Tiago Splitter in the head, and made an impact: 10 points and 14 rebounds.
"It's tough to miss a regular-season game. To miss a playoff game is a killer," Nowitzki said. "Know how bad he felt about missing that one and watching that one in San Antonio. I'm sure he thought to himself he could have helped us out there."
San Antonio, meanwhile, failed to close out the series despite a near comeback in the waning seconds of Friday's game.
"It's, of course, disappointing," Spurs veteran Manu Ginobili said. "But it is what it is. We've got to go fight and try to get it in Game 7."
Spurs guard Tony Parker, one of six Spurs player to score in double digits, led the team with 22 points and six assists; Splitter added 19 points and eight rebounds.
