Samsung is reportedly close to launching two new tablets in a fresh lineup called the Galaxy Tab S in 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch variants and AMOLED displays.
Samsung, the biggest smartphone and tablet maker, is soon to expand its tablet lineup with Galaxy Tab S that will bring high-end variants with AMOLED displays. The Korean tech has already launched one too many tablets this year including the new Galaxy Tab 4 range and Galaxy Tab Pros and adding another tablet lineup will give a wider choice to tablet shoppers.
Samsung is moving in the right direction, as a previous research from Canalys last year predicted a strong growth for tablets in 2014, expecting 285 million shipments this year and 400 million in 2017.
According to the Sam Mobile, the first to report the unannounced move by Samsung, the new Galaxy Tab S will offer two variants with different screen sizes, 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch. If the screen sizes aren't appealing enough for customers, Samsung is giving a better reason for an upgrade. Both tablets in the Tab S series will features Super AMOLED display with a high-resolution of 2560 x 1600, which makes these the first tablets since the tech giant used AMOLED display in the old and pricey Galaxy Tab 7.7 in 2011.
The surprise elements do not stop just at that, as the Galaxy Tab S line will be the first to be integrated with fingerprint scanning technology, which was debuted in its own Galaxy S5. Security features such as Fingerprint Unlock, PayPal Payments, Private Folder and Samsung Apps login will be a part of the technology in the new tablet range, as well as Multi-User login, a new feature unique to the Galaxy Tab S series, Sam Mobile reports.
Other technical specifications include Exynos 5 5420 Octa-core processor, Mali-T628 graphics, 3GB RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera with 1080p video capture and also a 2.1-megapixel front-facing shooter. In terms of design, the Galaxy Tab S models will not fall too far away from the Tab 4 range, with a perforated back cover and two color options, Shimmer White and Titanium Grey. However, the new lineup will feature slim edges suited for better handling, the tech news site added.
Both tablets will come with a choice of Wi-Fi and LTE. Pricing and availability details remain under the wraps.
