American designer Nate Berkus and his fiance Jeremiah Brent said "I Do" on Saturday during an intimate ceremony in New York City, People reported.
The 42-year-old "American Dream Builders" host and 29-year-old partner held their ceremony in front of 220 guests at the New York Public Library, making them the first same-sex couple to ever be married at the New York landmark.
People reported that the ceremony was officiated by Sheri Salata, president of the OWN network. Guests included Oprah Winfrey - who first discovered and coached Berkus on the talk show industry - Rachael Ray, Katie Lee, fashion designer Rebecca Minkoff, Irene Neuwirth and Busy Philipps.
Sources told the magazine that Berkus wore a J. Crew suit, while Brent wore Yves Saint Laurent. The couple exchanged gold bands from Van Cleef & Arpels.
"It's going to be a really sexy wedding ceremony, like really masculine but sexy feel," Brent told E! News in March. "It's been really great and been a really fun process for us to blend our aesthetics together and really create this whole moment."
People magazine reported that the decor "combined their color palette of black, whites and creams," with gold elements, as well as a custom built wall, using "linens from Berkus's own fabric line and Target collection."
The festivities were planned by Marcy Blum Associates and the invitations were done by Elum Designs. For the reception, Berkus' favorite choir the Gospel for Teens, of The Mama Foundation for the Arts, preformed. The after party included singer Estelle, who preformed her 2008 hit "American Boy." DJ Mad Marj spun additional tunes.
The pair got engaged a year ago in Peru, after dating for 12 months.
"We were on a buying trip for One Kings Lane in Peru and we went on the top of Machu Picchu and we walked down into this valley temple place and he asked me to marry him," Brent told E! News about his memorable proposal. "I fell apart like full ugly-girl kind of cry. I mean, my kids are screwed. They are going to say, 'Dad proposed to dad in Peru. What are you going to do for your significant other?'"
Berkus was in a previous longtime relationship with Fernando Bengoechea before his tragic death in 2004.
