Google Now Ads New ‘Product Card’ To Deck; Alerts When Searched Product Is Nearby

Google has added a new card to its Google Now app that alerts mobile users when a searched product is available nearby.

Google, the world's biggest internet search company, is emphasizing the importance of its Google Now cards by adding more of those to simplify users' mobile experience. New cards are a great addition to the mobile app, it updates important information such as sports scores, traffic info, event reminders and more. Users can customize their preferences on Google Now and it will display cards a user is particularly interested in. The latest Google Now card acts as a reminder for users' searched products.

"You've been looking for the perfect pair of hiking boots online, but haven't gotten around to pulling the trigger," the company shared in a Google+ post, Tuesday. "Starting today, if you're out and about and near a store that carries those boots, you might see a Google Now card showing you the product and price to remind you that you wanted them."

Google Search app records information about users' searches. For instance, if a user searched for offers on a new smartphone, Google remembers that and alerts users through a product card if that smartphone is available in a nearby store.

The new product card will not just show that the product in a nearby store, but also displays the price of the product. However, Google requires users to do a little hard work to voluntarily walk in to the store to see if the product is in stock as the card lacks the information.

The latest addition comes just a week after Google updated its Search app with offline support for cards and a new feature that helps users locate a parked car in a mall, which can be a challenging task at times.

In order to take advantage of the new feature, users must update to the Google Search app from Play Store on mobile.
