Penguins captain Sidney Crosby scored his first goal of the postseason on Monday to help Pittsburgh to a 2-0 win over New York in Game 3. The goal ended Crosby's 13-game playoff drought, according to the Associated Press.
"The main thing is that you get chances and that you are out there creating things, making it tough on them," Crosby told the Associated Press. "That's the first step. Eventually you trust that it will go in."
The real star of the game, though, was Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury. He made 35 saves en route to his second straight shutout of the Rangers.
"I felt good out there. Confident," Fleury said. "We didn't want to give them much, and we didn't."
Penguins forward Brandon Sutter praised Fleury for being able to overcome last year's postseason struggles and turn in strong performances this year.
"(Fleury) has been pretty much great from when we first started this season," Sutter said. "Last year he obviously faced a lot of postseason critics. He is kind of the same old guy that is pretty goofy, pretty loose around the room. I think that helps him with dealing with all the pressure. He just goes out and plays."
In the opinion of Penguins coach Dan Bylsma, Fleury has lived up to the expectations of being the No. 1 pick of the 2003 draft.
"I have won a lot of hockey games with Marc-Andre Fleury in net," Bylsma said. "There are some questions from when he was 17, 18, whatever. They have been asking those questions for a long time, and he has done nothing but answer those questions."
New York will look for production from center Brad Richards to help end their two-game losing streak.
