Nicki Minaj Leaving 'American Idol' Because of Mariah Carey Feud?

Nicki Minaj will not be returning for the next season of "American Idol," according to Us Magazine.

''It's safe to say she isn't coming back to 'Idol'," a source told the magazine. "She's okay with it. She had a great time but was only going to do one season anyway.''

The network has yet to confirm the singer's departure.

Reports come after Randy Jackson's recent announcement about leaving the show. This would leave Keith Urban and Mariah Carey as the show's only returning judges, which Carey may not mind.

Carey and Minaj's feud both on the show and reportedly behind the scenes, added a drama dynamic to the talent competition. Carey allegedly gave indications she may quit the show because of the tension, according to The Los Angeles Times. A May 1 battle left Minaj calling the fellow pop diva "insecure" and "bitter," Us Weekly reports.

But even with the side story, the show's ratings did not match previous years', according to the Times. However, Fox series executives are giving no indication Minaj was asked to leave.

Fox entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly told reporters Monday that "Idol's" current judges were welcome back, but that "everything at this point is on the table," The LA Times reports.

Minaj joined "American Idol" in September 2012. Prior to that, she became the most-charted female rapper on Billboard Hot 100, with forty-four appearances. She he is tied with Carey as the seventh most-charted female artist overall.
