"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" star Terry Crews will be the new host of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?"
Deadline reported that the 45-year-old actor will join the weekday game show starting this fall, replacing current host Cedric the Entertainer, who recently announced he would be leaving after hosting for one year.
"We are excited to announce that Terry Crews will be taking the reigns as our new host of 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' next season," Janice Marinelli, President of Disney-ABC Domestic Television, said in a statement, according to Deadline.com. "Terry is engaging, endearing, smart, and quick on his feet - the perfect combination to lead one of the longest-running franchises in game show history."
James Rowley will join the series as an executive producer. The show is moving production from New York to Stanford, Conn., for the upcoming 13th season.
"It's OFFICIAL!!!! I'm making people RICH!!!!!" Crews wrote on his Facebook.
Terry follows in the footsteps of Meredith Vieira, who launched the syndicated version of "Millionaire" in 2002 and remained host for 11 seasons. Regis Philbin hosted the primetime ABC version from 2000 to 2002.
Crews, who is also a former NFL player and the current face of Old Spice, told CNN that he was "beyond thrilled" to join the syndicated game show.
"I'm beyond thrilled to be joining Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and the Disney-ABC family," Crews said. "Millionaire is such a beloved franchise and I can't wait to get started as the new host. In addition to my film projects ... hosting has always been a dream of mine, and I couldn't have asked for a greater opportunity."
Crews will appear in the upcoming Adam Sandler comedy "Blended" and will be releasing his first book "Manhood," which comes out on May 20. His credits include "Arrested Development," "White Chicks" and "The Newsroom".
