Eminem was stabbed four times in New York City? Well, if you believe Facebook, than its true. The Detroit-born rapper is alive and well, and unfortunately, is just the latest celebrity to fall prey to another internet death hoax.
A bogus Facebook message began making the rounds on Wednesday which featured a photo of a man's gruesomely knifed back along with the words: "Rapper Eminem left nearly DEAD after being stabbed 4 times in NYC!"
Additionally, the man in the photo was not the real Slim Shady, and clicking on the story only subjects the curiosity seeker to an array of internet junk such as scam websites promising "free prizes" (which don't exist either) for completing an online survey.
The 'Lose Yourself' rapper is doing just fine, according to his rep, who told E! News the stabbed to death post was "not true" and "he remains unstabbed." To further comfort any concerned fans, another publicist told Spin: "These [rumors] happen all the time. He's fine."
Ironically enough, the same photo appeared in a 2011 Facebook hoax that reported Justin Bieber had been stabbed by a "CRAZED" fan outside of a New York nightclub.
Meanwhile, Eminem's mentor Dr. Dre said in an interview with radio station Power 106 that Eminem is currently working on his eighth studio album. The new record is slated to drop "post-Memorial Day at some point, but we're not exactly sure when," a Shady Records President Paul Rosenberg told Billboard magazine in February. The new album will reportedly feature a track with Chris Rock after the comedian posted a photo in the studio with Eminem.
