Sarah Palin Endorses Rob Maness For U.S. Senate In Facebook Post

Former vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin endorsed Rob Maness for U.S. Senate in Louisiana on Thursday, POLITICO reported.

"Rob is a true conservative - opposing amnesty, pledging to protect our Second Amendment rights, and promising to defund Obamacare," Palin said in a Facebook message.

Palin calls Maness an "admitted underdog" against incumbent U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu and GOP primary opponent U.S. Rep. Bill Cassidy, but suggests it's a "blessing" that he "does not have deep pockets or lobbyist connections to fund his campaign."

Maness, a retired Air Force colonel, recently came out with a TV ad in which he tapes the mouth of an alligator shut.

"Here in Louisiana, you learn to be tough. One moment of weakness and the alligators can eat you alive," he says in the ad. "So when I get to Washington, I'll stand up to the big spenders, I'll fight to repeal Obamacare and I'll protect our gun rights."

This is not the first time Palin endorsed a candidate who used animals in their campaign ads.

In March, the former Alaska gov. expressed her support for U.S. Senate candidate Joni Ernst, who touted pig castration in a TV ad.

"I grew up castrating hogs on an Iowa farm, so when I come to Washington, I'll know how to cut pork," Ernst says in the video. "Washington's full of big spenders, let's make 'em squeal."

Shortly after the ad made headlines, Palin endorsed Ernst in a Facebook post.

"If Nebraska's Deb Fischer can see through the bull in Washington, then Iowa's Joni Ernst can help her cut through the pork. Growing up on a hog farm in Southwest Iowa, Joni has taken her 'pork cutting' skills to the Iowa State Senate where she has been a champion for life, small government, and lower taxes - voting for the largest tax cut in Iowa history. In Washington, she has pledged to defund Obamacare, limit the size of government, and protect life. As a concealed weapon license holder, she will fight to defend our Second Amendment rights - the NRA has given her an "A" rating," Palin wrote.
