Punjab sits atop the IPL standings with a 6-1 record, 12 points and a higher Net Run Rate than second place Chennai. They bounced back from a 5-wicket loss to Mumbai with a 44-run win on Wednesday against the Super Kings.

Punjab's Glenn Maxwell earned the Man of the Match award for his performance, which included scoring a game-high 90 runs and taking one wicket.

"I felt like he was playing book cricket and every time he opened a page, it was four or six," teammate Virender Sehwag said of Maxwell, via CricBuzz.com. "It has been great to watch him bat."

David Miller and skipper George Bailey added 47 and 40 runs, respectively, and Mitchell Johnson took a team-high two wickets.

Bangalore, meanwhile, is in sixth place with a 3-4 record. Their last match ended in a 19-run loss to Mumbai on Tuesday. Chris Gayle led his team with 38 runs, and skipper Virat Kohli chipped in with 35 runs.
