Indiana evened the series on Wednesday, thanks in part to the resurgence of center Roy Hibbert. The 7-foot-2 All-Star broke out of his postseason slump in Game 2 and scored a season-high 28 points while grabbing nine rebounds.

"David (West) always talks to me about being the person that rescues yourself when you're in the middle of the ocean," Hibbert told the Associated Press after the 86-82 win. "There's nobody who can throw a lifesaver or a rope out to help you. So I had to do it myself."

Criticism mounted on Hibbert after he failed to score or rebound in Game 1. While he produced in Game 2, it's uncertain whether the beleaguered center has completely snapped out of his slump.

"I just want to string a few games together," he said. "Consistency hasn't been my biggest friend this year. I'm going to try to continue to play aggressive and I'm going to try to control the things I can control. I can't control play calls, but I can control how hard I play, how fast I run down the court and how well I play defense."

Wizards center Marcin Gortat logged a team-high 21 points and 11 rebounds, and second-year guard Bradley Beal added 17 points.

All-Star John Wall, though, struggled in the loss and finished with just six points on 2-for-13 shooting. He took a pair of ill-advised 3-pointers toward the end of regulation, which he admitted likely cost them the game.

"I think so," Wall said, via CSNWashington. "The criticism is going to be on me whether we win or lose. I take the blame. That's what I'm supposed to do as a point guard."
