Amazon's new employees will help the online retailer staff the company's Florida fulfillment centers.
The company has started hiring over 1,000 workers for managerial positions in equipment maintenance, information technology, and human resources according to The Tampa Business Journal.
An Amazon spokeswoman told The Journal the company will fill other new roles closer to the holidays - when the centers unlock their doors.
"We will begin hiring the majority of employees a few months prior to opening," Nina Lindsey said.
The company currently has 37 positions on their website - these include an Onsite Medical Representative, and loss prevention specialist.
Employees in these roles will receive mental, dental, and vision insurance benefits. 401k plans, and company stock awards are also planned.
According to USA Today, Amazon fulfillment centers employed over 20,000 individuals in 2013 - 50 percent began as seasonal employees.
Amazon also added positions to its distribution circuit. Approximately 2,500 new and full-time employees were hired to man shipping centers in Chester, Va., Petersburg, Va., Coffeyville, Kan. Columbia, S.C., Dupont, Wash, and Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Amazon's vice president of North America operations said he was looking forward to the new hires.
"Today, we're excited to announce 2,500 full-time jobs, bringing new employment opportunities to local communities across the country," Mike Roth said in an October statement.
The online retailer has also focused on other entities - these include Sunday delivery service - according to a press release.
Roth said the company is proud customers can receive packages on Sundays.
"So far, the most common items delivered on Sunday include baby supplies such as newborn apparel, books and toys-Sunday delivery is clearly crossing errands off the weekend to-do list," Roth said in a statement. "We know our Amazon customers love the convenience of everyday delivery, and we're excited to be offering Sunday delivery in more cities across the U.S."
The delivery service applies to Amazon Prime Fresh customers according to a company press release. Orders placed Friday night will arrive Sunday via the company's two-day unlimited shipping option.
Many cities have the service. These include Los Angeles, Calif, New York, N.Y., and New Orleans, La. Click here for a complete list.
