A Minnesota man was arrested for kidnapping a 14-year-old New York girl he met online, FoxNews.com reported.
Michael Angelo Goerlich, 53, was charged on Thursday with two counts of kidnapping and one count of false imprisonment.
Goerlich met Amber Goolsby online over a year ago. According to the charges, Goolsby cut communication with him once she learned he was a man. However, they began texting and talking on the phone over the past month.
On May 4, he drove to Rochester and picked up the teen at an intersection. According to Al Goolsby, he dropped Amber off at school and eventually learned she never made it inside the building.
As Goerlich drove them to Minnesota, he confiscated Goolsby's cell phone and would not let her use it at his home.
Two days later, she was able to locate a phone and call for help.
Bail was set at $1 million, FoxNews.com said. The investigation is active and ongoing.
In Louisiana, a 10-year-old girl was found safe on Friday after being reported missing by her family on Thursday.
According to authorities, the family of Makaylah Haywood called police after she didn't return home from school.
Though she got off of the bus at her usual stop, she was seen on surveillance footage running around the area with a juvenile male following her on a bike.
As the surveillance camera cuts away, Makaylah was walking towards an intersection where a car pulled up, eventually speeding away. However, investigators could not see if she ever entered the vehicle.
Further details on the investigation have not been released.
