Google has touched thousands of hearts with an emotional Google Glass ad to honor mothers across the world on Mother's Day.
Google, the world's largest internet search company, honored the mothers of the world by dedicating a beautiful Google Glass advertisement on the Mother's Day weekend. The heartwarming short film, uploaded on YouTube Thursday, was produced by graduates and students from the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts as part of the Glass Creative Collective. The advertisement, themed Seeds, features the unconditional love between a mother and a son, who travels hundreds and thousands of miles just to share an important message.
The short film that lasts 2 minutes and 30 second starts with a young man packing his bags to begin his journey from San Francisco to a village in India. Aneesh Chaganty, the 23-year-old director of the ad, shot the film completely on Google's high-tech computer eyewear over the course of 10 days.
"It's our way of saying 'Thank you, Mom,'" the producers wrote in the YouTube caption.
While the video is touching and a tear-jerker, the technical aspects remain minimal through the video. But it encourages other Glass users to create more of such commercials. The video, however, has gone viral since its release and has attracted more than 800,000 views as of this writing. The soundtrack featured in the video is an original track composed by Torin Borrowdale, Chagantywrote in a reply tweet to a watcher.
Chaganty also spoke with Mashable about the challenges he faced while shooting Seeds. "To tell a story where average shot length is 15 or 16 frames, to be able to convey a story where literally every single frame counts ... was really a challenge to shoot, but a lot of fun, to find those pieces and put that together," he said.
The report also added that the film's producer received his Glass in February this year. Google has allowed a limited group of members to buy and use the Glass, there are around 30,000 users in the U.S. The Glass is expected to hit the stores later this year for a reduced price than its current selling price of $1,500.
Chaganty is also planning to shoot another feature with Fruitvale Station co-producer Sev Ohanian, Mashable reports.
