Kerry Washington celebrated her first Mother's Day on Sunday, after reportedly giving birth to her first child daughter, Isabelle Amarachi Asomugha.
According to the New York Daily News, the notoriously private "Scandal" actress acknowledged her motherhood status on Twitter.
While the 37-year-old Neutrogena spokeswoman did not mention her daughter, she did respond to fans who wished her a happy Mother's Day.
"Well... I still wont talk about my personal life on here But... I see your tweets. And I am filled with gratitude! XO #HappyMothersDay," Washington tweeted Sunday. "To ALL moms, all of you, of all kinds and in all ways ... HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! Xo #HMD."
The actress wed former NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha during a secret ceremony in Blaine County, Idaho last July. Washington never officially announced her pregnancy, nor whether she gave birth, but at the Golden Globes in January, Washington told Ryan Seacrest, "I have the best date of the night - my little accessory."
According to a birth certificate posted by TMZ, Washington gave birth to her daughter Isabelle on April 21 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. However, the news was not publicly announced until two weeks later.
"I have girlfriends in this business who talk about their personal lives, and it works for them, and I love it. But not for me. I learned through experience that it doesn't work for me to talk about my personal life," Washington told Glamour. "I've had earlier times in my career when I did talk about it. But I couldn't just turn around and say, 'I only want to talk about the good stuff, but not the bad stuff.' So I just thought, 'OK, no more.'"
