Motorola's release of the Moto E smartphone brings solid devices at affordable prices.
Officials from the company said the Moto E smartphone is a good fit for first-time phone owners looking for a reasonably-priced, sophisticated product, according to the company's blog.
"Now we're pushing the boundaries of the value equation even further with Moto E, a new class of smartphone that's fully loaded and fairly priced - a perfect combination for savvy shoppers and first-time smartphone buyers," Motorola officials wrote on the blog. "Because smartphones haven't always come at smart prices and we believe that people shouldn't have to compromise on quality, style or experience."
Motorola said the company also wanted to create a mobile device that takes clear pictures.
"We believe it's time the feature phone era came to an end and that quality smartphones are made accessible and affordable for all," the company said on the statement. "Say hello to Moto E and join us in officially saying goodbye to the feature phone forever."
The $129 smartphone has a 4.3 display screen that shows clear pictures, runs on Android's 4.4.2 KitKat operating system and features a Corning Gorilla Glass and water-resistant splash guard that protects the product from the elements.
The phone also has a 200 dual core CPU processor and one gigabyte of random access memory, which enables users to accomplish tasks quickly.
The Moto E's five mega-pixel camera allows consumers to shoot video and take photos at the tap of a button.
A microSD insert holds 32 gigabytes max - this includes photos, videos, music, movies and apps, according to the company's blog. A built-in radio allows consumers to listen to various stations.
Motorola's Moto G 4G LTE, or long-term evolution feature, gives consumers faster speeds with a $219 upgrade.
Consumers can still purchase Motorola's original Moto G smartphone for $179 with no contract.
Both phones are available via local mobile carriers in over 40 countries throughout the world, the company's blog reported.
