Poor Rick! AMC released the first official photo from Season 5 of "The Walking Dead" and Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) isn't looking too good. The leader is seen peaking between, what looks like, two train cars with blood on his face and hand.
Thankfully, he looks intense and ready to go to war. Series creator Robert Kirkman previously dished about the "new" Rick to Entertainment Weekly saying that "Old Rick" (aka Ass-kicking Rick) was back and would be ready for anything that Terminus throws at them.
"Rick Grimes' evolution has come at the exact right point. This is the Rick Grimes that they need in that train car. And this is the Rick Grimes that the people of Terminus should not have encountered," Kirkman said. "It is the exact wrong time for them to encounter this guy. So it is supposed to be a somewhat uplifting kind of cliffhanger because you should get a sense that this guy is now ready for anything. He can handle absolutely whatever the world is going to throw at him and that is something we're going to be exploring in Season 5."
Kirkman also told EW that fans will learn all about Terminus - and what they're hiding - at the beginning of the season. It's been speculated that Terminus is home to the cannibals but it has never been confirmed.
"Stay tuned for Season 5!... I think people are going to be pretty excited when we come back in Season 5," he said. "We'll be revealing very quickly what it is that is going on and what it is Rick Grimes and everybody else are up against. We're not going to be keeping that close to the vest for too very long. So in our big Season 5 premiere we'll get some answers."
Season 5 of "The Walking Dead" premieres in October.
