Would you believe that Dolly Parton's breast and arms are secretly covered in tattoos?
During an appearance on NBC's "Today" Tuesday morning, the country music legend discussed her new album, "Blue Smoke" and came clean about a secret lying underneath her clothes. "Today" host Savannah Guthrie confronted Parton about rumors surrounding her alleged ink.
"People said the other day that the reason you wear sleeves is that you have snake tattoos all over you, and I said, 'No, I don't,'" the "Steel Magnolias" star said.
The 68-year-old singer, who is known for wearing long-sleeved garments to public events, denied that she was covered in tattoos, but confessed that she does have a few.
"I do have a few little tattoos, but they were mostly done to cover scars because I'm so fair," Parton said.
Parton, who has scars from breast augmentation and other surgeries, continued, "So it started with that, and I'm not really one to have tattoos, but I do have a few and they're not where you can see them ... I have a few, but they're mostly for my husband, [Carl Thomas Dean]."
In 2012, comedienne Jennifer Saunders and Roseanne Barr were left stunned when the busty singer revealed the tattoos on her breasts while sharing a meal in a restaurant. Saunders told U.K. talk show host Graham Norton that Parton joined them during a discussion about body art.
"I was in a restaurant with Rosanne Barr and Dolly was there and talking about tattoos," Saunders said. "She winked at us and said, 'This will go no further,' and then undid her top and there were her t--s and she has the most exquisite tattoos - angels and butterflies....They are the most divine, Titian-like drawings ... I kid you not. Although I did wake up in the morning and thought that couldn't have happened. But it did. It was one of the strangest evenings ever."
