A 17-year-old teenager in Texas was arrested on Tuesday in the death of a 16-year-old pregnant girl who was carrying his twins, USA TODAY reported.
Though Pearland Police did not release his name because of his age, the teen was arrested at Pasadena Memorial High School where he transferred one week after the body of Arrijana Hill was discovered.
"Today was definitely helpful in starting more of the healing process and a little more closure for me and my family," the victim's mother, Opal Hill, said on Tuesday.
"(I'm hoping for) just complete justice, complete justice," Hill added. "My daughter had a delightful spirit, always smiling, always happy. I continue to remember her as that person."
Hill found her daughter's body in their suburban Houston home -- inside of a gated community -- on March 21.
Arrijana was a sophomore at Dawson High School, where students expressed their shock over her death.
"I couldn't believe it. I was in shock," student Joel Vazquez told USA TODAY. "That Friday, that was that day, I just had her in class as normal."
According to authorities, DNA evidence led to the teen's arrest. While he was the father of her unborn children, investigators did not say if the pregnancy was a motive in the homicide.
Before transferring to another school, the suspect attended Dawson High School with Arrijana and was 16-years-old at the time of the crime. However, since he is being held on capital murder charges, he could face the death penalty if convicted.
The Brazoria County District Attorney's Office will determine if he will be tried as an adult, according to USA TODAY.
"He seemed normal," Justin Williams, a student at Pasadena Memorial, said of the suspect. "He didn't seem suspicious or anything."
