Pet Cat Rescues 4-Year-Old Boy From Dog Attack In California (VIDEO)

A pet cat came to the rescue of a child who was being attacked by a dog on Tuesday, ABC News reported.

The incident occurred in the driveway of the boy's home in Bakersfield, California. In surveillance footage taken from the boy's home, he is seen riding a bike when the dog comes from behind and starts biting his leg.

The family's cat, named Tara, defended the boy and chased the dog away.

On Wednesday morning, the boy's mother, Erica Triantafilo, said he needed a few stitches but otherwise is doing well.

Triantafilo also said the neighbors voluntarily had their dog quarantined. According to multiple reports, the dog is under "observation."

In March, a mother in Texas made headlines after she bit off a pitbull's ear after the dog attacked her two-year-old daughter.

"You do whatever you can," mother Chelsi Camp told KHOU.com. "I don't have physical strength at my side."

Camp, 23, agreed to watch her boyfriend's pit bull at the family's apartment in late March. The dog seemed nice until he smelled and suddenly attacked her daughter, Mackenzi "Kenzi" Plass, according to KTRK-TV.

Although she described the dog as usually being friendly, she blamed the pit bull's violent attack on her daughter's smell.

"When he smelled her, that's when you saw it flip because I think he smelled my dog on her," Camp said.

When the dog started to attack the child, Camp shoved her fist down the dog's throat and bit off its ear. While she fought the dog, she told Kenzi to roll onto her stomach to avoid choking on blood, according to USA Today.

Camp managed to call 911 as she fought off the pit bull. An officer who arrived on scene at the South Shore apartments on East League City Parkway shot the dog, which was still attacking Camp, according to CBS News.

The dog was later euthanized.
