Rihanna Donates $25K to LAPD After Breaking Police Chief's Phone (TWEETS)

Rihanna has apologized with more than just words, after accidentally breaking L.A. Police Commission President Steve Soboroff's cell phone at a Clippers NBA playoff game.

E! News reported that during the Los Angeles Clippers' playoff game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday, the singer accidentally dropped Soboroff's phone on the court, resulting in a cracked screen.

Soboroff asked to take a selfie with Rihanna while she was wore an LAPD wristband to show her support for the officers. The "Diamonds" singer reportedly suggested that she take the picture, but after a few snapshots she accidentally dropped the phone on the floor.

"Sorry I broke your phone @SteveSoboroff :)," the "Good Girl Gone Bad" singer wrote Tuesday night on her Twitter page.

The 26-year-old pop star then donated $25,000 to the Los Angeles Police Foundation. According to the Los Angeles Times, the generous donation was meant to help fund police cadets from underprivileged backgrounds and the families of fallen officers.

"BIG @rihanna news: she's donating $25,000 to @LAPoliceFdtn for cadets & families of fallen officers," Soboroff wrote on his Twitter page.

The singer also autographed Soboroff's broken phone, which reportedly is still in working condition. Rihanna later announced that she would allow the phone to be auctioned off on eBay to benefit two other LAPD-related charities.

According to the New York Daily News, the highest bid for Soboroff's phone is currently $22, 800, with the auction scheduled to close Thursday.
