Former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice expressed her hope for ex-Florida Gov. Jeb Bush to run for president in 2016, according to POLITICO.
"Jeb hasn't said whether he will run, he's a friend, I hope he does, frankly," Rice said of the potential GOP candidate.
However, Rice said she does not have any presidential -- or vice presidential -- aspirations of her own.
"It's just not in my DNA," Rice said of running for office in an interview with Ozy, posted on Thursday. "We're going to have a lot of great people who will run for office. I think Jeb would be fantastic. I think there are several others who are considering it who would be outstanding."
In addition to Bush, she also mentioned her "great respect" for U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio -- another possible 2016 Republican contender.
"Marco Rubio is also a fantastic young presence in the party, great background. Speaks volumes to the American dream, speaks volumes to who we are as Americans," Rice said.
"... One of the things I will be looking for is somebody who understands the importance to this country of immigration and immigration reform," she said of the presidential contenders.
Rice also discussed her thoughts on another Republican senator whose name has been tossed around in 2016 rumors -- Ted Cruz.
"While I don't agree with Ted on everything, he's energetic, he's working hard, he loves his country and from time to time when I disagree, I tell him," Rice said.
Of the issues she disagrees with him on, she emphasized immigration.
"I will talk to Ted Cruz about immigration because I admire him," Rice said.
