A woman in Texas was arrested on Sunday after pretending to be a high school student for months, MyFox8.com reported.
Charity Anne Johnson, 31, was taken into custody after a family she was staying with became suspicious of her real identity.
Johnson went by the name "Charity Stevens" and attended New Life Christian School, where she was registered as a sophomore.
A school spokesperson told KLTV that Johnson's guardian enrolled her in October and provided a birth date that indicated she was 15.
On Tuesday, the school administration learned that the information provided was fake.
Johnson's guardian, Tamica Lincoln, said Johnson told her she was a teenager and needed a place to stay. She also allegedly told Lincoln that her father abused her and that both of her parents died.
Though Lincoln became her guardian, she eventually became suspicious and notified the police and the school.
"I just don't know why she did it. Why put yourself and others at risk to do something like this?" she said. "I have deep concerns about her being who we don't know she is, and then she's out there at the school."
Johnson was then arrested and charged with failure to identify/giving false, fictitious information. She was booked in Gregg County Jail on $500 bond.
"Teachers were crying and students were crying, and her best friend just couldn't believe it," Lincoln said of her arrest.
School officials said a notice about the situation will be sent out to parents on Thursday.
Lincoln posted a photo of Johnson on Facebook and asked users if anyone recognized her. Shockingly, she got a few responses.
"I've reached out to four different women off of Facebook that she has contacted. Florida, here in Longview, Minnesota," she said.
