Oklahoma City made a late comeback to win Game 5 on Tuesday, 105-104. The Thunder were again powered by stars Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook -- Durant logged 27 points and 10 rebounds, and Westbrook finished with 38 points and six assists.
Three of Westbrook's points came on a trio of free throws with 6.4 seconds remaining, putting Oklahoma City ahead.
"I think when you get a win like this, it brings everybody closer," Westbrook told the Associated Press. "It lets you know you can't mess around. You have to take every moment, every play, and go out and win the game."
Clippers coach Doc Rivers, though, doesn't believe Westbrook should have ever had the chance for the three point play. The ball went out of bounds with 11.3 seconds remaining, and the officials ruled it went off a Clippers player. After reviewing the replay, the officials declined to overturn their call.
"Everybody knows it was our ball," Rivers said. "The bottom line is they thought it was a foul and they made up for it. Let's take away the replay. We were robbed. It was our ball, whether it was a foul or not."
Rivers' remarks earned him a $25,000 fine from the NBA league office.
NBA crew chief Tony Brothers stood by the call and explained it after the game.
"When the ball goes out of bounds, the ball was awarded to Oklahoma City," he said. "We go to review the play. We saw two replays. ... And from those two replays, it was inconclusive as to who the ball went out of bounds off of. When it's inconclusive, we have to go with the call that was on the floor."
