After four years together, Jessica Simpson and fiancé Eric Johnson have finally chosen a wedding date for their long-awaited nuptials.
Us Weekly reported that the couple will get married "over the July 4th weekend in Santa Barbara." The 33-year-old singer and the 34-year-old athlete have been engaged since Nov. 2010 and have two kids together - daughter Maxwell, 2, and son Ace, 10 months.
Simpson and Johnson reportedly changed their minds about having a destination wedding in Capri, Italy. A source told the publication that a faraway wedding would be too much to ask of their friends and family. The source added that the Weight Watchers spokesperson will not be wearing white on her big day.
"Jessica is having something unique made," a source told the magazine. "It will be very different from the Vera Wang she wore to wed Nick Lachey [in 2002]."
Simpson was previously married to 98 Degrees boybander Nick Lachey, while Johnson was first married to pole dancing teacher Keri D'Angelo for five years before divorcing in 2010. Simpson told USA Today at the White House Correspondents' Dinner that they were almost ready to mail their wedding invitations.
"We are very close to sending out our invites," Simpson said. "I've been very picky on how I want everything to look and feel. Eric's family alone is almost 90 people, so it'll definitely be a big event."
During an appearance on "Good Morning America" in January, Simpson told the morning show that she would be getting married sometime in 2014.
"[W]e do know that we want it to be this year. We need to get married! I already feel like we're an old married couple already," she said. "Like, if he wanted to run, he could've run when I was hormonal and pregnant."
