The Milwaukee Brewers play the Chicago Cubs on Friday in Game 1 of their series. The game starts at 2:20 p.m. ET. Listen to the live radio broadcast below.
Milwaukee closed out their three-game series against Pittsburgh on Thursday with a 4-3 win. Rickie Weeks and Martin Maldonado both hit solo homers, and Khris Davis hit a two-run single in the ninth to give Milwaukee the win.
"I was just looking around and all of a sudden my teammates were running at me," Davis told the Associated Press of his walk-off single. "I just took it with a good smile, glad I could help win."
Milwaukee has come to expect crucial plays from Davis.
"He's got some big hits for us," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said. "When you look at his overall numbers and they're not where he would like them to be, or us, but he's got some big hits."
Chicago, meanwhile, heads into Friday's game looking to snap a two-game losing streak. They've struggled in May, winning only two of their last nine games. The Cubs' latest defeat came on Thursday to St. Louis, 5-3.
Jeff Samardzija (0-3, 1.45 ERA) starts on Friday for Chicago. The ace pitcher is still looking for his first win of the season, despite having one of the lowest ERAs in the league. A lack of run support has kept Samardzija from notching a "W," something his teammates are aware of.
"We just have to score some runs -- the guy's giving up less than two runs a game for nine innings," Cubs second baseman Darwin Barney told the team website, according to the Associated Press. "If we come out and put up three or four, he'll get a win."
Opposing Samardzija will be Brewers pitcher Kyle Lohse (4-1, 2.75 ERA).
