A video uploaded to YouTube by a family from Bakersfield, California, showing their family cat attacking a dog who was biting at a childs leg has gone viral, producing a fan base, according to USA Today.
The surveillance video uploaded to YouTube with the timestamp of Wednesday May 13 shows a dog sneaking up on the boy as he is riding a bicycle in the driveway, USA Today reported.
After the dog jumps on the boy and begins pulling and biting on his leg, the cat can be seen running into the frame out of no where and chasing the dog off, according to USA Today. The cat is named Tara and belongs to the family.
The cat appears to lunge at the dog and throw him away from the child before chasing him around the driveway, USA Today reported.
The dog belongs to a neighbor, Erika Triantafilo, the mother of the child, said, according to USA Today. She also said her son needed a few stitches, but is doing fine.
The family is thanking their beloved cat for helping their young son yesterday, USA Today reported. The owners told The Today Show that Tara is normally "the most mellow cat you've ever met."
