Orville Fleming UPDATE: California Murder Suspect Arrested At Bus Stop

A California Fire battalion accused of killing his girlfriend was caught by authorities on Friday, CBS News reported.

Orville "Mo" Fleming, 55, was found at a bus stop in Elk Grove, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.

"We are pleased that this search is over and the Sheriff's Office has apprehended Mr. Fleming. We will continue to support the Sheriff and the District Attorney in any way we can as the judicial process continues," Cal Fire spokesman Daniel Berlant said.

After failing to show up to work for a week after the murder, he was fired from his job as a battalion chief and instructor with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

Further details on his arrest were not released.

Fleming was on the run since May 1, shortly after authorities learned that his girlfriend, 26-year-old Sarah Jane Douglas, was found dead in a home they shared.

According to FOX40, Douglas' sister found her at home, apparently strangled and stabbed to death.

After investigators discovered the crime scene, they found Fleming's truck abandoned in an Elk Grove neighborhood.

After searching the surrounding area initially, officials expanded their search statewide, citing Fleming's experience in the outdoors and access to supplies and facilities throughout California.

"She had her whole life ahead of her," Trina Werly, Douglas' aunt, told FOX40.

Werly said their two-year relationship had recently taken a turn for the worse.

"He was possessive," Werly said. "She tried to leave him and then I guess they said they'd work it out."

"My sister said 'I think he is going to kill her,'" Werly added.

According to ABC News, authorities received hundreds of tips with callers reporting sightings in Los Angeles and Oregon.
