NYC Stabbing Suspect Fatally Shot By Police

A stabbing suspect in New York City was fatally shot by police on Sunday night, NBC News reported.

The 39-year-old suspect allegedly stabbed a 38-year-old woman in an apartment in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens. When authorities arrived, EMTs were already treating the woman. The suspect, who was in another room, lunged at officers with a pair of scissors -- prompting them to open fire.

Two police officers shot the suspect in the stomach and hand. According to the NYPD, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim, who was stabbed in the shoulder, was listed in stable condition.

The names of the suspect and victim have not been released.

Earlier on Sunday, NYPD officers shot and injured a man who allegedly pointed a gun at them in East Harlem.

According to police, they were responding to a 911 call about a disorderly group and an armed man at the Washington Houses. Once officers arrived, the suspect -- 23-year-old Michael Schultz -- tried fleeing the scene. As police caught up with him, he allegedly flashed a .22-caliber revolver at them, prompting them to open fire.

Schultz was charged with attempted assault of a police officer, weapons possession. and menacing a police officer, according to The New York Times.

On Friday afternoon, four NYPD officers fatally shot a man who allegedly robbed a drug store in Manhattan.

Authorities were called around 1:40 p.m. about a burglary taking place at a HealthSource Pharmacy on Second Avenue near East 69th Street.

Police officers caught up with the suspect, who was driving a four-door sedan, near FDR Drive. According to officers, the suspect pulled out his gun and they returned with opening fire.
