Mariah Carey is releasing her first studio album in five years, "Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse." The 15-track album isn't expected to be released until next Tuesday, May 27 but iTunes Radio First Play is letting fans listen to it ahead of time.
Carey announced the news on Twitter.
"TONIGHT @midnight: Listen to Me. I Am Mariah... The Chanteuse in full on iTunes Radio," she tweeted.
According to Billboard, the album will feature appearances by Wale, Nas, Miguel, Fabolous and her twins, Monroe and Moroccan. R. Kelly and Mary J. Blige will appear on the deluxe edition. The 44-year-old "#Beautiful" singer previously told Billboard that the title for her 14th studio album came from a "personal possession of mine that's part of an entity that I've had almost all my life."
In a YouTube video elaborating on what she meant, Carey explained that the title was based on her "first and only self-portrait," a piece of artwork she drew when she was a child. The drawing is featured on the back cover of the album.
"Please don't judge me for such a simplistic title. Come on, I was only three and a half," she said in the clip.
The second part of the title, "The Elusive Chanteuse," is said to be a nickname she recently started using. Carey has used other nicknames in the past like "MC" and "Mimi."
