T-Mobile is releasing two new cellular-enabled tablets with "free data for life" at Walmart stores across the U.S.
Each tablet comes with up to 200MB of free 4G data every month, according to The Wall Street Journal.
"The vast majority of tablet owners today are trapped in the Wi-Fi zone," said Doug Chartier, senior vice president at T-Mobile. "First there's the extra cost of a cellular-enabled tablet. Then there's the added cost of the big three carriers' expensive data plans and danger of overages. It doesn't have to be this way. With these great connect tablets, you get free 4G data for the life of your tablet on the blazing fast T-Mobile network - and the freedom to live your life beyond the Wi-Fi zone - at an unheard of price."
Additional data plans are also available for $10, CNET reported.
Walmart currently offers the Trio AXS 4G budget tablet, and will offer the HP Slate 7 HD in June. The Trio AXS 4G is available for $179, and the HP Slate 7 HD will soon be for sale at the price of $229.
The Trio AXS 4G is an Android-powered tablet that includes two-camera vision, 16GB on-device storage, MicroSD slot, a 7.85-inch HD display, quad core 1.2GHz processor and 1GB memory, The Wall Street Journal reported.
The HP Slate 7 HD offers similar features, along with Google Play and multi-touch HD wide-angle viewing.
"We know many of our customers want to be consistently connected but often end up purchasing tablets with just Wi-Fi due to the cost," said Kevin Pate, vice president of electronics for Walmart U.S. "The new T-Mobile tablets with Free Data for Life will not only provide our customers with the technology and cellular access they want but also an unmatched value."
While T-Mobile's stores offer the same deal for free data, working with Walmart makes the company a more affordable option for people looking to buy tablets, CNET reported.
People shopping at Walmart also have different options for high-speed data plans. These choices include 3.5GB for $35 a month and 5GB for $50 a month.
