"Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" cinematographer Larry Fong cleared up the Joker speculation on his official Twitter account.
Fong recently shared a photo of a facedown playing card stuck in a wall. The photo caused fans to speculate about the cinematographer was teasing the return of The Joker, a character the late Heath Ledger made famous in the "The Dark Knight."
Unfortunately, Fong might not have been teasing anything for the "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" film.
However, if the franchise were interested in introducing the Joker, 41-year-old actor Adrien Brody is interested in the role. Brody recently spoke to Metro U.K. about playing the villain.
"I would do it if I feel I can contribute something valuable and that the role would be interesting to me because they're long journeys. To me, the villains are way fun," Brody said. "But they don't offer me those roles. If there is an opportunity to do something like that and play a comic book hero or villain, that's not something I'm fundamentally opposed to."
Speaking of villains, Jesse Eisenberg recently spoke to IGN about the his of his character Lex Luthor.
"It'll definitely be played by a different person, but I don't know really how different this -- I don't know the history as well as the people making the movie, so I guess it's up to them to figure out how much they want to separate it from previous incarnations. But I will treat it like it's its own role," he told IGN.
"There's no way to play the history of the character played by other people, unless you do some kind of wink, but that doesn't seem like a responsible way to act," Eisenberg continued. "So I will just do it as though it's a character, in the same way you do a movie like The Double, which is a smaller movie -- but you just kind of treat it like a character, and that's probably the best course of action, I think."
"Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" will be released to theaters on May 6, 2016.
