Oklahoma City felt the absence of forward Serge Ibaka in Game 1's 122-105 blowout loss. Spurs veteran Tim Duncan scored 27 points with Ibaka, who's out indefinitely with a calf injury, sidelined.
While Ibaka is unlikely to return in the postseason, Thunder coach Scott Brooks doesn't want his team using it as an excuse.
"We're a no-excuse team," Brooks told the Associated Press. "Serge is out. He's not coming back. We have to play better. We have to play better. If we expect to beat one of the best teams in basketball, and a very good offensive team, we have to play and we're not going to make an excuse."
The loss of Ibaka, the team's third-highest scorer and the league leader in blocked shots, put all the burden on stars Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, both of who combined for 53 points.
"We turned the ball over a little too much but we've got to continue to trust whether the guys are hitting shots or not," Durant said. "We've got to keep playing within our offense and playing with the pass. We'll be fine. We do a good job attacking, not just for ourselves, but for our teammates. We've just got to continue to trust. ...
"Serge is not going to be here. He's injured for the rest of the postseason, so we've got to move past that and just keep playing as a team."
