Ex-NBA player Predrag Danilovic, who was a shooting guard for the Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks from 1995-97, was stabbed in a fight in Serbia on Saturday night while at a local cafe, according to reports.
The ex-NBA player was wounded during a brawl early Saturday in a cafe in a residential part of the capital, Belgrade, according to the Associated Press. What caused the fight was not disclosed. Danilovic, 43, suffered numerous injuries to his abdomen, head and arms and doctors say he underwent an operation to treat injuries to his abdomen, head and arms.
Danilovic, who was often called Sasha when he played for the NBA, is currently the general manager of Serbian basketball club Partizan Belgrade.
In Europe he won four European Championships with Yugoslav and also won a Silver Medal in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. He has gone on to have a successful career in Europe, including being named the Italian league MVP and Europe player of the year in 1998.
As a member of the Yugoslav national basketball team he won four European championships and a silver Olympic medal. He won 1994 FIBA Europe Player of the Year Award.
