A California woman who was just 15-years-old when she was kidnapped 10 years ago was rescued earlier this week after reaching out for help on Facebook, according to The New York Daily News.
On Wednesday, authorities in Santa Ana announced the arrest of Isidro Garcia, 41, who allegedly abducted the girl while he was dating her mother and living with their family.
Right before the two disapperaed, Garcia was suspected of abusing the teenage girl, according to KABC.
The unnamed victim decided to reach out to her sister on Tuesday via Facebook after suffering a decade of abuse -- leading to her rescue.
In August 2004, Isidro allegedly attacked the girl's mother and then drugged the girl, before taking her to a home in Compton.
"There, Garcia provided the victim with falsified identity documents and locked her overnight in a garage to prevent the victim from fleeing," investigators said in a release.
Garcia also told the victim that her family eventually stopped looking for her and if she tried to find them they would be deported.
"Even with the opportunity to escape, after years of physical and mental abuse, the victim saw no way out of her situation and lived a life with Garcia under sustained physical and mental abuse," police said.
Three years after she was kidnapped, Garcia forced her to marry him at 18-years-old. In 2012, she gave birth to his child.
In order to avoid police, Garcia and the victim worked for a nighttime cleaning service "so he could keep a close eye on the victim," authorities told the Daily News.
Garcia has since been charged with kidnapping for rape, lewd act with a minor, and false imprisonment.
