Nikki Reed has filed for divorce from her husband Paul McDonald, after being separated for two months.
Us Weekly reported that the "Twilight" actress cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split, and is asking a court to deny spousal support for McDonald. The 25-year-old actress filed divorce papers on May 16, according to E! News.
Reed and the 29-year-old former "American Idol" contestant revealed in March that they had separated and were "living separately for the past six months due to work obligations." This is both Reed and McDonald's first marriage.
"After much consideration, Nikki Reed and Paul McDonald are ending their marriage," a rep told Us Weekly.
Reed and McDonald tied the knot in Malibu on October 2011, but court documents show a July 14, 2011 marriage date. They married after just three months of dating. A source told Us Weekly that the couple will continue to work on their album together, in spite of the split.
"They will continue to share their love of music, and are still working on their debut album, 'I'm Not Falling,' releasing in 2014," the unidentified source stated. "They remain best friends and look forward to their continued journey together."
The couple recorded "Now I've Found You" for the "Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2" soundtrack and also appeared in Hanson's "Get the Girl Back" video together.
According to the Daily Mail, Reed has been linked to "Dancing With the Stars" professional dancer Derek Hough. The rumored couple has been reportedly spotted together a number of times - most recently at Cheryl Burke's birthday party at The Sayers Club two weeks ago. She was also seen onset during the finale of "Dancing with the Stars."
