Bill Clinton Honored For Service At City Year Event In Boston

Former President Bill Clinton attended a City Year event in Boston on Thursday, where he was honored for his service and spoke out against the kidnapping of Nigerian school girls, according to The Washington Post.

"All over the world there are places where men's identity is all caught up in whether they get to tell women what to do and restrict their choices," Clinton said. "We have to develop a sense of identity which is inclusive."

While he was president, Clinton helped create AmeriCorps -- a service organization that funds City Year.

On Thursday, a spokesperson for the U.S. military said Air Force officials arrived in Chad, which neighbors Nigeria, in an attempt to locate the missing girls.

During the event, held at Symphony Hall, Clinton mostly strayed from national politics, including his wife Hillary's potential run in 2016, and discussed issues like climate change.

"We don't seem to be approaching it together," the former president said of climate change.

He also spoke out against economic inequality, which he said "is not only bad morals and bad social policy, but it's a severe restraint on growth."

"We have to go forward together," Clinton said.
