Two Brave Men Catch 1-Year-Old Infant Falling From A Second Story Window Ledge (WATCH)

Dramatic images of two quick-thinking Chinese men catching a baby after he fell from a second story window this week were released on Friday by Chinese state media, Fox News reported.

The one-year-old boy may have been looking for his mother when he climbed onto the window Sunday in Guangdong Province in southern China, the Associated Press reported, citing local reports from China Central Television.

Spotting the baby climbing dangerously onto the window sill, a man walking past a building during a thunderstorm ran in to help in the rescue, provincial broadcaster Guangdong TV said.

A vendor who lives in a building across the street also confirmed seeing the baby fall down.

Identified as Mr. Li, the local resident was seen rushing across the street, holding his arms out, in hopes of catching the boy.

Surveillance footage shows that the man was joined by another bystander, identified as Mr. Hu, and both threw up their arms in anticipation of the child's fall.

While some people rushed into the building to help, others placed several pieces of cardboard and a sofa on the ground under the window to soften the baby's fall.

Finally the infant tumbled down into the pair's arms, according to Agence France-Presse.

The baby was looking for his mother, some reports stated on Sunday.

The child was later placed in the arms of a woman, believed to be its mother, who ran off cradling the baby.

"I didn't think too much at the time. I was just afraid of failing to catch him," local media quoted the first man, surnamed Li, as saying.

"It was nothing but human instinct to do so," Hu told the Chinese network.

Having gone viral, the video has created a storm on social media, with thousands posting comments.

"Wow... that is what I call nice catch! That guy is a hero!" wrote one YouTube user.
