'Fast and Furious 7': Vin Diesel Confirms Romeo Santos Has Joined Cast During Staples Center Concert (VIDEO)

Singer Romeo Santos has landed a role in the upcoming "Fast & Furious 7."

Santos made the announcement during his concert at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif. on Thursday night. Vin Diesel came out on stage to let the fans in on the casting news.

"I cam here tonight to tell you that Romeo is in 'Fast & Furious 7'," Diesel told the crowd.

Santos joins fellow Latino superstars Tego Calderon and Don Omar.

The "Fast & Furious 7" production is still dealing with the loss of their franchise star Paul Walker. Walker, 40, died in a car accident along with his friend Roger Rodas on Nov. 30, 2013. Diesel admitted during a Facebook Q&A how working on Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" helped him cope with the loss of Walker, according to Digital Spy.

"It was very personal - it was the month after the accident happened with my brother Paul Walker and it was the first time I had worked since," Diesel wrote.

"Although it was challenging, just to get back to work was therapeutic - especially as Groot. There was an innocence about the character that was just refreshing - and it may have been more challenging under other circumstances, but at that time, it was very therapeutic."

Before the Facebook Q&A, Diesel honored his friend during an acceptance speech at the MTV Movie Awards for Best On-Screen Duo.

"Back in 2002, it was you, the MTV audience, that first acknowledged this brotherhood between Paul Walker and myself by honoring us with the best team on film," Diesel said during his acceptance video. "So it's surreal to be standing here 12 years later and that you have been so generous to give us this award again."

"I know he's here in spirit," Diesel said, visibly choking back his tears. "Thank you for honoring me and, more importantly, thank you for honoring that angel - my brother Paul Walker."
