Beyoncé and Jay Z decided to skip Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's wedding to enjoy some R&R in the Hamptons. A source told US Weekly, that Bey and Jay declined the invite even though Jay and West have been close friends for years.
Kardashian and West tied-the-knot in Florence, Italy on Saturday, May 24. US reports that Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour also skipped the ceremony because of family obligations. Beyoncé posted a make-up free selfie on Intagram early this morning but did congratulate the newlyweds on getting married.
"Wishing you a lifetime of unconditional love. God bless your beautiful family," she wrote, including a picture of Kimye's behind-the-scenes Vogue shoot.
A source told Hollywood Life that Bey and Jay skipping the much-talked about wedding was not a diss to Kardashian and West.
"They wouldn't mean it as a diss, they just don't want to go and would rather stay home with Blue Ivy, prepare for their tour and just relax," the source said. "A wedding like this would be a complete process that they really aren't interested in getting involved in."
Kardashian and West got married in front of about 200 family and friends at Fort di Belvedere in Florence. According to People magazine, Andrea Bocelli sang while Bruce Jenner walked the 33-year-old down the aisle.
A North Miami pastor named Rich Wilkerson Jr. performed the ceremony. People also reports that the multi-country affair was planned by celebrity event planner Sharon Sacks. She also planned Kardashian's baby shower and her wedding to Kris Humphries.
Sources told the magazine that West was visibly nervous while waiting for his bride-to-be.
"It was funny how nervous he was," an onlooker said. "He clearly knew the gravity of what he was about to do. This morning he was all smiles, but as it got closer, you could see that the nerves were kicking in. It's common for most grooms. I've seen it all before."
This is the first marriage for West and the third for Kardashian.
