Four men were arrested in a shooting that left two people injured in Clearwater Beach, Florida on Memorial Day, according to The Christian Science Monitor.
Jerry Holmes Jr., 31, Jeffrey Grier, 20, Jared Woodard, 19, and Terrance Kirnes, 20, were taken into custody after the shooting occurred around 7 p.m. Investigators claim Holmes was the gunman.
The incident occurred after the group got in a fight with another group. The first shots were fired from people in the Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Resort parking lot and the other group returned fire from the street.
Joelle Castelli, a Clearwater Police spokeswoman, said at least two people were wounded -- one in the hand and the other in the groin. However, the individual shot in the hand fled the area.
Though beach access was blocked off for a while, it was eventually reopened for residents only. Additionally, the Hyatt was closed as authorities searched the building room by room.
One witness told Bay 9 News that no one tried to stop the gunman from running.
"The bit I am appalled at is that when the guy is running away with the gun, no one is trying to tackle the bloke," said Ashley Arkell. "Nobody is trying to prevent anything from happening. They are filming. They are filming for social media, trying to get hits on social media like it's a big deal, and that's what I find disgusting."
The two people that were shot are expected to recover from their injuries.
A second shooting occurred at the same time just three blocks down, WPTV said.
"This is something you don't ever want to have in your backyard," Castelli said. "To have Clearwater Beach be safe is our number one priority. I would bring my family here tomorrow."
